Raw POV takes story tips from readers, organisers, artists and communities. If something is happening that deserves coverage and is not getting it, this is where to tell us.

What we are looking for

We are a small publication with a specific focus, so the honest answer is that we cover some things well and others not at all. These are the ones we actively want to hear about.

  • Cultural events in Canada, particularly Latin American and Brazilian music, dance and craft. Festivals, workshop weekends, social nights, community productions, touring artists.
  • People doing the unglamorous work that keeps a scene alive. Teachers, organisers, musicians, volunteers, the ones who rent the hall and carry the speakers.
  • Community stories that larger outlets consistently miss because there is no press officer sending them a release.
  • Corrections and context on something we have already published. We take these as seriously as new tips.

What we are less likely to run

Not a judgment on anyone, simply a question of what we can cover properly.

  • Product launches and commercial promotions with no editorial angle.
  • Requests for paid coverage. We do not sell editorial space, as set out in our Editorial Policy.
  • Anonymous accusations against named individuals. We are a small team without the legal resources to verify them responsibly.
  • Stories entirely outside Canada and the Americas.

How to send it

Use the form below, or write directly to hello@inkadigitalworks.com. Either reaches the same inbox.

What helps us most, in rough order of usefulness:

  1. What is happening, in one sentence. If it takes a paragraph to explain, lead with the sentence anyway.
  2. When and where. Dates and location, if it is an event.
  3. Who is involved and how we can reach them.
  4. Why now. The reason this is worth writing about this month rather than any other.
  5. Anything checkable. Links, a poster, a programme, an official page. We verify everything before publishing, so this speeds things up considerably.
  6. Photos, if you have them and hold the rights. Tell us who took them so we can credit properly.

What happens after you send it

A person reads it. Not a filter, not an autoresponder.

If we are going to cover it, we usually reply within a few days to ask follow up questions. If it is not something we can take on, we will often say so rather than leaving you waiting, though we cannot promise a reply to every message.

If your tip leads to an article, we will tell you when it publishes. We do not share your contact details with anyone, and if you would rather not be named in the piece, say so and we will respect it.

Press and promotional material

Publicists, venues and labels are welcome to send press kits to the same address. Please include images you have cleared for editorial use, with the photographer credit attached. We cannot publish images whose rights are unclear.
